APPLE MUFFINS
I ate the apple muffins as an apple cream cake for the first time in the fall of 1995 in a house in Val di Non (Trentino) for breakfast. At the time, I was teaching in schools in the valley and couldn't go home in the evening as it took me two and a half hours one way. So I rented a room from a couple.
TARTLETS FROM TRENTINO WITH CINNAMON
Irma and Flavio - the couple - lived in an old house with a large courtyard away from the village on a hill surrounded by apple trees. On a clear day, I could see far into the valley from my bedroom and the landscape was dotted with apple trees as far as I could see. It was particularly beautiful there in spring. All the hills and slopes were a sea of blossom. However, my favorite season was autumn. At this time of year, Irma prepared her apple cream cake fresh every day. Once you have made the cake, you will understand why it is gone so quickly and why people ask for more every day. Mrs. Irma prepared the apple cream tart as a cake and used a Ø 19 cm cake tin.
CAKE FOR THE CHILDREN
However, many years ago I decided to divide the dough. I found it easier to give the muffins to the children to take to kindergarten or school. It was also easier for them to help me bake because each child was allowed to take as many apple muffin tins as the other, thus avoiding arguments.
FOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND GUESTS
Serving them in portions is also perfect for birthday parties and guests, as well as being an edible table decoration. As not all apples are the same and their moisture content is not always predictable, it is always a good idea to test both the cake and the cupcakes with chopsticks.
